Catch the Sparrow × RCKGRL
An intimate evening of live music at De Warren
Catch the Sparrow (Suze Terwisscha) and RCKGRL (Sara Tompkins) first started making music together in 2016, when they formed their band Daphne. After years of sharing stages, including a memorable show at Surinameplein, life took them in different directions. Suze found her way to London, while Sara stayed in Amsterdam, each developing their own musical worlds.
Now, ten years later, they're sharing the stage again. An evening to reconnect, exchange songs, and share a glimpse into their current works in progress.
Expect lush melodies, stripped-back acoustic performances, unfinished ideas, and whatever else happens along the way.

Catch the Sparrow
Born and raised in the Netherlands, Catch The Sparrow (singer-songwriter Suze Terwisscha van Scheltinga) initially studied to be a jazz vocalist before her love for folk music brought her to the North East of England. She quickly became a fixture on the Newcastle folk scene, performing extensively throughout the region before relocating to London in 2024.
A natural storyteller with a keen ear for captivating melodies, her songs effortlessly cross boundaries of style and genre to create a sound that is uniquely her own. As she taps into folk ballads and fairytales, she introduces a colourful cast of scorned wives, sheltered princesses, free-spirited poets, and crossdressing adventurers, shedding a new light on timeless tales.
“…elaborate, fairy-like ballads on a bed of piano sounds … with the violin seeking its own mercurial way throughout.” – New Folk Sounds
RCKGRL
RCKGRL is an American-Dutch multidisciplinary artist and performer based in Amsterdam, raised in a proud union family in the suburbs of Chicago. Writing pop songs with melodies you’ll want to scream out in your car, stretched across glitched arrangements, RCKGRL pulls together pop punk, hyperpop, and indie electronica.
Named after her first AIM screen name, RCKGRL revisits the suburban rock girl from the other side of the Atlantic. Cornfields, basement bands, house parties, and pizza on the living room floor collide with early internet culture, 2010s aesthetics, and European nightlife. Somewhere between diary entry and cultural dislocation, RCKGRL is an ode to suburban boredom, blue-collar roots, and fitting in everywhere and nowhere.
