DocumentARY

Living Together: The Story of De Warren is a documentary about how housing cooperative De Warren came into existence. The movie begins with KONIJN (Dutch for “bunny”), a group of friends who organize parties and festivals. After starting a permaculture farm in Portugal, the idea of communal living emerges and the idea for De Warren is born. The project is ambitious: it’s the first of its kind in the Netherlands, and none of these young pioneers has ever built a house before.

The documentary was created using footage shot by members of this group. Resident and filmmaker Sam van Zoest blended this footage to craft the documentary Living Together: The Story of De Warren.
